Back in August, I quit Instagram. I knew it wasn’t the right fit, but I wasn’t exactly sure why. It wasn’t until this morning, while listening to a podcast, that I began to understand.
Long story short: Instagram drains our social battery without offering the same cognitive and emotional rewards we get from real conversations. (Skip to 6:30 in the podcast to hear more.) I’m not here to make you feel bad about being on Instagram—I’m here to advocate for purposefully extending our creative worlds beyond the app, into authentic creative dialogues 💬, either IRL or over the phone 📞.
Here are a few ways to spark that dialogue
Have a conversation with purpose. Schedule time with a friend to read the same inspiring article or text, then chat about it for 45 minutes. (Think of it as a one-on-one book club!)
Try co-coaching. Partner with someone to exchange guidance and support. Here’s a guide I created to help you get started!
Join the Creative Incubator. Make real connections in a friendly, non-judgmental atmosphere.
The Creative Incubator is a place to have meaningful discussions that spark ideas and drive your work forward.
If that sounds like the breath of fresh air you need, join our awesome Cohort crew!
Lots of love,
